Publisher's Synopsis
The world is black and white. Women wear wide skirts, pearls, red lipstick and hair that has been fixed with hairspray and that doesn't flutter when the wind blows - and that's their casual, casual look when they're at home making scrambled eggs and ham in the kitchen. The kids are all clean and polite - the girls in perky pastel sweaters and plaid skirts, the boys in neat shirts and pants - and they say things like, "Good heavens, Mom," when they're really shaken.
And every family has a calm, sensible husband and father who comes home at the end of the day with a pipe, briefcase, and a regular paycheck.
