Publisher's Synopsis
This is an interactive adventure, where you make the decisions about where to go next!
You've planned the perfect summer in Moab, Utah, to go hot air ballooning, whitewater rafting, hiking among the red desert rocks, or even volunteering at a fossil dig site! But beware-no matter which adventure you choose, you'll face obstacles (natural, supernatural, and man-made) that could cut your summer adventure short. Depending on the choices YOU make, you could encounter mythical creatures, mysterious strangers, amateur crooks, and spooky events that defy explanation and mess with your mind. Be especially careful around strangers-you never know how they'll affect you, your summer, or your friends! Can you make the right choices to survive your Utah adventure, or will you be doomed to wander the desert forever? Or WORSE? In this interactive adventure with a sprinkling of mystery, suspense, and the supernatural thrown in for good measure, YOU get to decide what you do next! Ideal for ages 9-13 and reluctant readers of all ages. NOTICE: This book shouldn't be read in order!! Each page will tell you which page to jump to next--sometimes the next page, sometimes 20 or 30 pages ahead and then back again as you make different decisions throughout the story. FROM THE BOOK: Your guide barks at you all to lift your oars out of the water to prepare for the first set of rapids. The water swirls and churns around you, rushing past rocks and logs on a mad dash to outrace your raft. It's exhilarating! Twice the guide yells for you to use your oars to push away from a large rock so you don't get stuck. The rest of the time, he wants your oars in your laps so they're not pulled under with the current, taking you with them. You look over to your left to make sure Chelsea's ok. Although she's clenching her jaw and clinging to the handholds for dear life, she's still in the boat. You're propelled along a small drop-off to a section of calm water and briefly instructed to row again before you hit the next series of cascading rapids; then it's back to oars on your laps. This time, the boat bounces furiously along the wild water, knocking all of you around a little. When you next check on Chelsea, she's not there. You look again just to be sure-but she's gone!***************************************************
Insist on stopping the raft right now and searching for your friend. Go to page 13. It's not safe to stop the raft here. You'll have to wait to search for Chelsea. Go to page 14. What would YOU do? Read this book and make the choice for yourself!
