The Morgue Street Murders, also known as The Morgue Street Murders or The Rue Morgue Murders, is a tale of the crime and horror genre by American writer Edgar Allan Poe, first published in Graham's Magazine, from Philadelphia, in the month of April 1841. It is the first detective story properly speaking in the history of literature, that is, the first story about detectives that has all the elements that will later be retaken as characteristic of detective novels.
