It is Halloween night in Beulah "Cookie" Simmons's home town, and she is beyond excited because it is one of her favorite holidays. But there is something strange about this Halloween, and it becomes even more bizarre when Beulah's brother, James, comes bursting into the house to tell her and her mother, Maven Simmons, that he and his friends have found a body in the town's graveyard! Cookie and Mama are immediately on the case but discover that the body is missing when they arrive at the graveyard. It seems like there are more questions than answers, and with ghosts popping up at every turn, Mama and Cookie will have to use all their smarts to solve this one. Will Mama and Cookie be able to solve this mystery and figure out who was in the graveyard? Or will it be too late and the murderer will find their next victim on this Halloween night?
