The emerald necklace vanished twenty years ago, and in trying to clear up some cold cases for the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, Volunteers Andrea and Kathleen decide this one would be a welcome break from the murder cases they've been solving. As usual, nothing is ever that simple when the sisters are on the job, because also missing are the man who bought the necklace for his wife, and the paramour who disappeared with him.While searching for clues as to what actually happened all those years ago, the sisters are threatened by someone who doesn't want them to discover the truth. They persist, however, and in the end bring about what they hope is a rather unorthodox form of justice.
