Publisher's Synopsis
How to prepare water for aquarium fish?
So, you have already figured out how to choose an aquarium, how to arrange it, how to choose a substrate and which filter to install. Now prepare the water for the fish. Remember, buying fish and putting them in fresh tap water is wrong.
Tap water is not suitable for an aquarium if it is not prepared. The reason is that fresh tap water contains chlorine. It is added to kill the microorganisms it contains. So the water will become safe for humans. But chlorine is unstable, and with intensive aeration with the help of an aquarium compressor it can be easily removed from the water.
Here's how to prepare the water in a new aquarium:
- Fill the aquarium with fresh tap water
- Connect the filter and intensive aeration from the compressor
- Install a heater and adjust the water temperature according to the species of fish you intend to keep
- Check the pH and hardness of the water, if necessary; adjust them according to the requirements of the fish with special preparations that are sold in the nearest pet store.
