Publisher's Synopsis
Cutting skills take time for children to develop. Being able to use scissors to cut well is important for many preschool and school activities including art and craft. Children may have the skills to use small scissors by three to four years of age, but scissor skills are not fully developed until 6 years of age. Proficient scissor use requires foundational components such as postural stability, hand strength and dexterity, hand-eye coordination, bilateral integration, sensory integration, sequencing, rhythm, and attention. These are skills that are also needed for success in play and learning. As part of our Scissor Skills Practice for Kids, we're going to spend some time discussing how scissor skills develop, plus share practical strategies you can use to help kids progress in their scissor cutting abilities!
