- Find all the easy words first
- Using a ruler, check each of the rows and columns
- Tilt the page to search for diagonal words
- Be on guard for backward spelled words
- Look for all words starting with the same letter
- Look for commonly grouped letters: ing, ism, tion, ate, etc
- Search for words with uncommon letters like X and Z
- Use different colored highlighters
- Rescan areas of the grid that have few words found
- Look for words running parallel
