The first book, Comic Art Trends Price Guide 2019, was called the Legends edition because it featured legends in the industry such as Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, John Romita, Sr., Steve Ditko, John Byrne, and Frank Miller to name a few. The Legends edition featured over 30 great original comic book artists. The new edition starts up where the 2019 edition left off by featuring a brand new set of over 40 new artists. The Modern Masters edition includes some artists from the early days of comics that were missed in the first edition. However, the focus of the Modern Masters edition is to feature comic book artists that have made their mark in the seventies, eighties, and nineties. Artists include Mark Bagley, Bernie Wrightson, Jim Starlin, Ron Lim, Rich Buckler, Sal Buscema, John Romita, Jr., Rob Liefeld, Marc Silvestri, and many more. The Comic Art Trends Price Guide is unique in the market for original comic book art. It is one baby step towards creating an Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide for original comic book art. The guide contains information that is useful and entertaining for comic book fans, art investors, people buying and selling comic art, experienced and inexperienced comic art connoisseurs, and anyone who just likes to look at pictures from comic books. Contents include featured artist market reports, graphs describing trends of sales data and other pertinent information, sales data, lots of pictures for each artist, and the proprietary CAT grade for each art listing. The CAT grade is one of the things that makes the Comic Art Trends Price Guide unique. The CAT grade is a tool used by the author to categorize art based on criteria that is intuitive to the average fan. The CAT grade considers the featured character(s) on the page, how much of the page is devoted to the character(s), what type of page it is, and what is significant about the page. Using the CAT scale, it is possible to group unique pages of original art to assist buyers and sellers in determining if similar pages have previously sold. Those similar pages can help when attempting to understand the market for a unique page of comic book art.
