Julio Gomez is a teenager from Puerto Rico, freshly arrived in New York, and working in a restaurant. Gomez soon attracts attention after writing a letter full of mathematical equations, which was quickly discovered by both a newspaper reporter. It is the height of the Cold War, and the US government desperately requires his proficiency in physics and field theory, to try and beat the Russians.
