Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-Ms. Veal's appearance is a pamphlet that was published anonymously in 1706 and is generally attributed to Daniel Defoe. Entirely titled A true account of the appearance of a Mrs. Veal, the day after her death: a Mrs. Bargrave in Canterbury. On September 8, 1705, it has been described as "the first modern ghost story". The brochure tells the story of a resident Canterbury, Mrs. Bargrave, who is visited by Mrs. Veal, an old friend and former neighbor who says she would like to catch up before leaving for a trip. Mrs. Bargrave's greeting kiss is rejected by Mrs. Veal, who protests that she is not doing very well. The couple discuss books about death and friendship before Mrs. Veal asks her friend to write her brother a letter about a series of gifts they would like him to make.She also reveals that her closed cabinet contains a bag filled with gold. Mrs. Bargrave admires the dress worn by Mrs. Veal. Mrs. Bargrave goes out to call her daughter and when she returns she discovers that Mrs. Veal has already left the house and is standing on the street ready to leave. Mrs. Veal says she must go and walks away, watched by Mrs. Bargrave until she is out of sight.
