Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, is one of the greatest soldier-statesman that ever lived, being surpassed only by the great Napoleon Bonaparte. A leading member of the European Enlightenment, Frederick did everything in his power to improve the lives of his people, which also meant expanding and defending their country, Prussia, against incredible odds. While Volume 1 covers Frederick's early life and the First Silesian War (1740-43), Volume 2, this volume, covers the Second Silesian War and some of the events during the ten years of peace between 1746-56. Volume 3 covers the approximate first half of the cataclysmic Seven Years' War (1756-57) and Volume 4 covers the second half of the war up until his death in 1786. Throughout are included Frederick's own words as well as hundreds of pictures and maps.
