Family is rarely determined by birth. Aldric Nystrom learned this early on, and as a young man he tried to leave the ghosts of his past behind. When his wife becomes pregnant, Aldric finally has the chance to form a family of his own. Though the Nystroms try to stop him, he fights to leave behind their ways and create a new legacy for his son. As he ages, Cailean is taught to be both a werewolf and a human. Living in both worlds proves to be difficult when Cailean falls for a human girl and recklessly scratches her. Their pack continues to expand when Hayden and Chase, two unsuspecting teenagers, go on an ill-timed camping trip and are dragged into this mythical world hidden within their own. Aldric and Cailean learn to accept their new definition of family: one not tied to ancestry, but rather bound by something stronger. Bound by fate.
