This present little text is one of a number of lectures delivered by Annie Besant on wide ranging occult topics through the course of several decades of Theosophy. It breaks apart occult practices into the truly spiritual (those of the "white brotherhood"), those which are potentially useful but capable of being misused, such as the focus and self awareness attending the use of yoga, and bad or karmically negative practices employed for personal gain.
It is interesting to note that this schema is subjugate to the concept of a coming higher era of increased one-ness and that the theory here is that those who are backwards in karma essentially dissolve themselves from the larger reality into greater and greater separation.
