Publisher's Synopsis
Herman is generally a good and well-behaved octopus whose inquisitive nature tends to lead him into "naughty" situations. Herman lives with his fish friends on a reef at the New England aquarium. This first story is an introduction to Herman whose encounter with a bratty child causes him to reflect on his own behavior. Underlying themes are of friendship, protecting the environment, and respecting the planet and others living on it. The action drifts between the reality of the reef environment and the interaction of its sea creature inhabitants, and the imagination of a very intelligent, young octopus. The result is an educational book which will entertain both young readers and their parents and teachers.
