Publisher's Synopsis
The Haste is a summer adventure story about rambunctious nine-year-old Dean Farley, who learns the hard way the difference between courage and taking a dare -- by risking his own life. Dean Farley's father was too busy working six days a week to have much time for teaching his son about life and growing up in the South in the 1950s. It was in a time when children, especially boys, were mostly free range and unsupervised once they got old enough to wander.
