Publisher's Synopsis
There's a great line from a Bruce Springsteen song about how "broken hearts and spare parts make the world go round." Bruce is right, of course because he is The Boss, but there are also spare hearts and broken parts of teen life that I wanted to write about in this collection. When I would visit schools to talk about my novels, I would have kids who commented how they liked how the books were "real" but then also noted the lack of happy endings. So this collection comes with a blanket trigger warning: hard times are ahead like a lot of teens living without spare hearts and too many broken parts. Stories include "I Hate John Green" and the Tear Collector story "A Shoulder to Cry On."
