When Brela had enough of her husband's abuse, she did the only thing she could to survive. The problem was that he was one of the highest-ranking officers in the Fallen army.
Even though he deserved it, the Fallen severely punished Brela.
Lonely years passed in the dungeons with only the dead and cruel guards for company. Finally, a young woman named Vassa is tossed into the cell next to her.
Little does Brela realize that befriending her prison companion will lead to her freedom. Or will it?
As if forced into allegiance with a rebellion she doesn't want to be part of, and helping her friend claim a birthright that could save the realm isn't bad enough, Brela loathes Vassa's betrothed. Or so she tells herself that is the emotion that surges in his imposing presence.
