A work redundancy and an health crisis provided the stimulus to live out my childhood fantasy. It was the first time I realised life was finite, a shock, a dose of reality.
Buying a yacht in the Mediterranean brought many complaints of recklessness from family. A few friends promised to join my dream escape, but failed to do so.
What followed for me was always demanded new skills and I was severely tested at every turn. The memories however were ultimately rewarding and I'm sure they will flash through my eyes when that moment comes for us all.
The illness and ultimate death of a close family member brought me home and back to the corporate life once more. Little did I know this experience would be as challenging as the last.
Just a Flesh Wound relives my thirty-six month slice of life. It is the escape we have at some point in our lives.. I was lucky enough to live first hand.
