In theory, Crown Prince Henry of Charmante would make a decent king. He isn't well-liked, and the kingdom doesn't know how to think of him. He's made mistakes, but he's learned from them. All he needs is a chance to prove it, but the Enchanted Forest refuses to let Henry go on his Quests. It's not common knowledge and he's mostly keeping that information between himself and a few castle staff. Even the King and Queen don't know.
When a beanstalk mysteriously starts growing in the middle of a vital river and throws the kingdom into a drought, he's finally allowed to leave.
