Publisher's Synopsis
The Foundation's project on Urban Innovations aimed to highlight metamorphoses in the urban environment and innovative actions to improve the quality of urban life, to overcome problems and enhance progress. The research pulled together information on existing and planned policies, actions and research on innovative approaches and analyzed this information in a wider integrated socio-economic and environmental policy context. The role of the social partners was highlighted throughout the research. When Austria, Sweden and Finland joined the EU in 1995 the overview was extended to cover them and a group of young planners identified innovative projects in those countries.
