Publisher's Synopsis
Documents an artistic project involving the city of Turin and catalogues the exhibition of the work produced. With the covering over of the railway access loop (Passante Ferroviario), a large part of the town is freed for public use, and the city council has decided to place site-specific works of art in the recovered area. Eleven artists from Italy and abroad have participated: Giovanni Anselmo, Per Kirkby, Jannis Kounellis, Luig Mainolfi, Mario Merz, Giulio Paolini, Giuseppe Penone, Walter Pichler, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Ulrich Ruckreim and Gilberto Zorio. Each of them has succeeded not only in stamping his own creative individuality on his work, but also in adapting to different types of commission: a fountain, a gate, a monument and so on.
