La transformación, o metamorfosis, de Gregor Samsa en un bicho monstruoso, similar a un enorme escarabajo, es uno de los hitos de la literatura universal. Franz Kafka escribió el relato en 1912, pero no fue publicado hasta 1915, cuando apareció en la revista mensual Die Weissen Blätter. En noviembre de ese mismo año, aunque con fecha anticipada de 1916, se imprimió por primera vez como libro exento, en el doble volumen 22/23 de la colección &«Der Jüngste Tag», al amparo de la casa editorial Kurt Wolff. Deseamos conmemorar los cien años de aquella publicación presentando una edición que replica la original.
