Publisher's Synopsis
In Venice, under siege by the armies of a revived Egyptian pharaoh, the mystical Flowing Queen who protects the Venician lagoon is under threat by the Egyptians. She devises a plan in which the small orphan Merle will keep her safe—by absorbing the Queen's essence into her own human body.
