Publisher's Synopsis

Afterimage is a site-specific project produced by Narelle Jubelin, an artist born in Sydney in 1960, for La Casa Encendida. This is her first solo exhibition in Madrid and a very special portrait of this center, making it a unique opportunity and a project which cannot be exported anywhere else. The afterimage is the image that remains on the retina, which we still see with our eyes closed after staring at an object. Narelle uses the afterimage - that of the remnant of reality that persists - as a metaphor to explain how she has woven, literally and figuratively, this portrait.
