The story thatLaure tells in her diary about a body on the verge of death is truthful and disturbing. From the first lines of the novel the reader accompanies the young woman through her recovery and awakening: she will eat again but, above all, she will again be in possession of a body capable of awakening desire in others. This novel, with its spare narrative, is a bildungsroman, a coming of age and a journey of love, even though the journey is interior and confined within the four walls of a hospital.
