Publisher's Synopsis
This story, based on photographs, illustrations, and collages, is full of poetry and sensitivity. The main character is a writer who needs to write a new story, but he can't think of one. He seems to have run out of ideas, and his typewriter is staying quiet. Instead of forcing himself to write, he decides to take his dog on a walk. They travel the neighborhood together, meeting another dog, a friendly neighbor, a squirrel, and a line of people waiting for soup. It's a splendid day-and the narrator starts to wonder if all these simple, everyday things couldn't become the story he's looking for.
