Publisher's Synopsis
Were located in Smyrna, just after the defeat of the Greek army. Nicias, a former captain of the Greek army, returns to his city after he spends years at the war. He can feel the sadness in the air after the Greek defeat, and the threat that the Turks will attack. But, even with these events, Nicias decides to go in the search of love, searching for Eurdice, the young maiden that he leave behind in the war, Nicias would try to find peace in his hometown. In Smyrna on flames the reader will find the brutal and bloody events that were typically during that time, along with the great skill of Aridjis poetic language.
