Publisher's Synopsis
German videographer/photographer Stefan Panhans is well-established in Europe for his biting, sardonic cultural satire and surrealistic environments. This is his sixth monograph-exhibition catalog, the first available in the United States, where he is on the cusp of discovery by Americans. This artist's book brings together several bodies of work, including Sorry - with stills from the work, and documents of the process of making the video - and When does the moon actually come out?, which includes seven video installations and 35 photographic works. Panhans' work focuses on "mental archaeology," a kind of artistic research; his themes include isolation, oppression, police intervention and government authority.
