Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2002 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Region: Westeuropa, Note: 1,0, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (Seminar für politische Wissenschaften), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Rolle des französischen Präsidenten im Prozess der Wiedervereinigung der beiden deutschen Staaten darf zu Beginn einer Arbeit, die sich mit zentralen Aspekten darin und ihrer Veränderung befasst, als bedeutend beschrieben werden. Es gäbe tatsächlich viele Gesichtspunkte, unter denen Mitterrands Verhältnis zu den Ereignissen des Novembers 1989 untersucht werden könnte. Dies zu leisten kann und soll nicht Ziel dieser Arbeit sein. Sie will vielmehr versuchen, anhand der Erklärung des deutschen Bundeskanzlers Helmut Kohl am 28. November 1989 vor dem Deutschen Bundestag, dem so genannten Zehnpunkteplan, der Frage nachzugehen, inwieweit aus der Reaktion Mitterrands darauf in den letzten Wochen des Wendejahres von einer befürwortenden oder ablehnenden Haltung des Präsidenten - und hier ist vom Präsidenten die Rede, nicht Frankreich und den Franzosen, von denen 68 % Ende 1989 für die Wiedervereinigung waren und nur 16 % dagegen - gesprochen werden kann. In diesem Sinne wird die Arbeit unterschiedliche, als integer geltende Akteure und Beobachter von beiden Seiten des Rheins und deren Kommentierung von Mitterrands Sicht auf die deutsche Wiedervereinigung zu Wort kommen lassen und ihre Aussagen mit denen der Forschung vergleichen. Der Schwerpunkt wird also zeitlich in den vier Wochen vom Fall der Mauer am 9. November bis zum Straßburger EG-Gipfel am 8. Dezember 1989 liegen. Für diese Zeit soll die Frage beantwortet werden, ob sie und in ihrer Mitte der Zehnpunkteplan Kohls zur längerfristigen Veränderung des Status quo in Deutschland als Katalysator in Mitterrands Deutschlandpolitik verstanden werden können und, bei einer positiven Antwort, welcher Art die katalytische Wirkung war.
