Publisher's Synopsis
Written for the quilter who is comfortable with basic quilting and wants to expand their knowledge of techniques, this book provides illustrated step-by-step instructions for dozens of techniques and 13 blocks. The book evolved from an Intermediate quilt class that Susan taught. Susan recently updated the design and blocks to include newer techniques, some of which she developed over the years. Techniques build on common beginner skills, but some basics are reviewed in the beginning of the book. Each block teaches at least one technique, all of which can be done by machine. A color coded fabric requirement list provides help for choosing fabrics for the quilt. There are also cutting diagrams and quilting patterns included. Optional drafting instructions are included for blocks where appropriate, but patterns and/or cutting instructions are included for all blocks. The completed blocks are then put together to form this stunning quilt. Techniques covered include (but aren't limited to): Bias strip piecing, machine circle applique, applique, connector corners, paper foundation piecing, partial seams, quick quarter circles, Seminole patchwork, mock cathedral windows, English paper piecing, quick-pieced flying geese, y-seam construction, Dresden plate by machine, stained glass applique, quick-pieced quarter square triangles, machine stitched double wedding ring, and strip-pieced star.
