Publisher's Synopsis
The Suite in E major belongs to the set of 6 suites known as French Suites (BWV 812 - 817). Most likely, Bach composed these six suites between the years of 1722 and 1725. The name "French" were supposedly given to the Suites later. As Bach's biographer Johann Nikolaus Forkel wrote in his 1802 biography of Bach, "One usually calls them French Suites because they are written in the French manner." This publication of the Suite in E major combines Edited and Urtext versions. While students usually need editor's recommendations they will also benefit from referring to the original score reproduced by the URTEXT. For advanced students and professional pianists.
