Publisher's Synopsis
Jessica Black is having an identity crisis. On the one hand, she's an accomplished Australian intelligence agent at the top of her game. On the other, she's tired of risking her life in combat zones, and she longs for a normal life.
As Jessica tries to make sense of her life, a series of events in the Solomon Islands culminates in murder. The presumed killer is political activist Francis Tueti, wanted for the ten-year-old murder of an Australian federal policeman.
With the trail for Tueti cold, Jessica is assigned to the islands to find out why, resolve the issue, and bring the killer to justice. It seems like a simple enough mission after some of the scrapes Jessica's been in. But she should know better.
Complicating the hunt are a corrupt prime minister, a cabal of foreign land investors, and a well-meaning radical environmentalist. Betrayals and double crosses abound as Jessica finds herself wondering if the right course of action conflicts with her duties.
A taut thriller set against the lush green jungles of the Solomon Islands, His Dark Heart blends high-paced action and suspense with human drama.
