Publisher's Synopsis
When twelve-year-old Theresa Martinez's mom dies, money problems force her family to move into her dead grandmother's creepy old mansion. Immediately, strange things start to happen. The powdered sugar Theresa's been searching for suddenly falls out of a cupboard. Closed curtains are mysteriously open. Her little brother Joey suggests maybe it's a ghost, but Theresa doesn't believe in ghosts.
On Theresa's first day at school she meets Kerry, another new student from England. Kerry tells Theresa her aunt, a real estate agent, says her house is haunted. Kerry is obsessed with ghosts and convinces Theresa it would be fun to look for the ghost. Besides, Kerry has some neat ghost hunting gadgets she's dying to use. Their favorite reality show, Ghosters, is hosting a contest for the best paranormal recording. "If we win, we both get what we want," Kerry tells Theresa. "You earn money for your family. I record an actual ghost." Along with Joey, they push down their fears and explore the creepy parts of the house with Kerry's ghost-chasing equipment in hopes of capturing spine-tingling prizewinning evidence of a spirit. Little do they know, ghosts are just tip of the stunning mysteries the old house holds.
