This lovely story about pet animals is ideal for children learning Italian. In the story, a boy called Marco asks his friends if they have a pet. Marco discovers that all his friends have a pet. Marco though doesn't have a pet, but one day he finds a coin and he makes a wish. Will his wish for a pet come true? Read to the end of the story to find out! On each of the pages where Marco asks his friend if they have a pet, the pet can be seen hiding behind a bush. Parents/teachers could ask their little ones what the animal is called in Italian before turning over the page to see the animal in full and the name in Italian. For each pet, there is a page giving details of the type of pet, the pet's name, the size of the pet and the colour of the pet - If you like singing sing each of these 4 lines twice to the tune of Frère Jacques. At the back of the book there is an Italian - English translation of the story. Hai Un Animale Domestico? has been written for children aged 7 - 11 by a qualified and experienced foreign languages teacher but the lovely storyline and colourful pictures may also interest children learning Italian of other ages.
