Introduction In the Jubilee Year 2000 the third typical edition of the Missale Romanum was approved by Saint John Paul II. The following year, the Instruction on the use of vernacular languages in the publication of books of the Roman Rite (Liturgiam authenticam), prepared by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, was approved by the Holy Father. In 2002 Saint John Paul II established the Vox Clara Committee to ensure accurate translation of the texts of the Roman Rite in accordance with the norms contained in Liturgiam authenticam.
