In an old manor house a number of distinguished visitors gather to spend the summer in the country air, including Egor, a painter in love with the eldest daughter of the owner. But there is something very amiss at the house: an energy emanating from the portrait of the charismatic former owner, Miss Christina, and a sexual tension that surrounds her memory and seems to sully even the most innocent of minds.
