Publisher's Synopsis
A large format volume documents photographic works 1972-82 held in the Cv/Visual Arts Research Archive. These range from experiments in posed sculptures in the landscape to the set of photo-displays exhibited at The Gallery London during the 1970s; news and TV composites, and West London Portraits which explore a cross-over area of the moving image in film and photography.;'The action of an image becomes intricately bound up with memory, as in the personal significance of a snapshot souvenir or bred into the general consciousness, usually by the endless recycling of selected histories. The possibility remains, however tenuous, for occasional interventions to alter a given state to one's own advantage. Art can be such a filter and a critique in what it admits or discloses. By taking an oblique view it can be possible to make an imaginative space out of a collective space; one in which to move, or at least breathe more easily.' NP James, Editor Cv/Visual Arts Research
