Publisher's Synopsis
Peterborough Cathedral - one of the finest Romanesque cathedrals in Northern Europe - was ravaged by fire on 22 November 2001. The first part of this book is a personal account of the process of restoring the Cathedral after that devastating event, illustrated with colour photographs from the day of the fire, through the restoration process, to the Festival of Thanksgiving four years later. The second part of the book focuses on Peterborough Cathedral's unique 13th-century painted nave ceiling which came close to complete destruction. It has been written as a testimony to the faith and vision of those who saw through this unique project and of those who have encouragement and financial support.
