A photographic record by British-based photographer Fi McGhee of John Pawson's conversion of a 17th-century Dutch barn in Essex into a studio and family home. The book documents the five-year process of deconstruction and reconstruction involved with the building's renovation, and charts the way that Pawson's much documented 'minimalist' philosophy combined with McGhee's own practical needs as a photographer.
Founded in 1974 Booth-Clibborn Editions initially concentrated its publishing energy towards improving creative standards in commercial media through its annuals European Illustration, American Illustration and American Photography. It also prided itself in showcasing the vanguard of commercial media specialising in books on graphics and advertising.
