The authors had always had a yearning to have a trip for longer than the standard two weeks it is possible to take from work and would think how lucky young people are nowadays to have gap years to do just this. They started out on a two year trip overland through West, East and Southern Africa, then headed to Borneo to work for a Youth Development Organisation for three months, and finally made their way to Texas, bought a truck camper and headed south through Central and South America towards Ushuaia, the most southerly tip of the continent, their two year trip now extending into three. Far from getting travelling out of their system it has left them hungry for more. Hopefully reading this will make you realise that you’re never too old for a gap year...or three.
