Publisher's Synopsis

Established by the Earl of Fife in the early 1820s Dufftown prospered throughout the Victorian era, sharing in the Speyside whisky boom of the 1880s and 1890s. Several distilleries were built around it and the town prospered and grew as the industry flourished. Most of the photos in the illustrated local history date up to the 1930s and include Kininvie, Drummuir, Beaton's shop (now McBain's), the 'Grey Line' bus and more.
