Publisher's Synopsis
Alexis heard her mother scream. She ran down the stairs as fast as her feet would allow; she tripped on the second to last step but caught herself before falling. When she burst out the front door, she noticed her mother was on her knees on the ground and was inconsolable while a sheriff knelt down beside her. Alexis screamed as she ran frantically towards her mom and the sheriff, "What happened? Are you hurt? Mom! What's going on? Where is Dad?"
