Publisher's Synopsis
Off The Rails is a multi-ending gamebook where the reader makes choices to guide the adventure.
Unlike chapter-books, gamebooks let the reader take multiple, small adventures that lead to different choices and different endings throughout. Every few pages, there are activities, pathways, decisions that are left up to the reader. You'll be flipping back and forth throughout the book, never knowing when one adventure may end. And when it does, you can start back at the beginning and choose a whole different route.
I wrote this book for ages 10+ with themes of peril and danger. For those familiar, the book registers between the 4th & 6th Grade levels on the Flesch-Kincaid reading scale. There is no adult language and it's suitable for younger kids with a little vocabulary guidance along the way. I do try and challenge readers to grow their vocabulary with context.
I grew up reading books like this and the sense of control over the adventure drew me to read more than I ever had before. After writing a number of smaller versions (that will likely become full books) for family and friends, I'm pleased to bring my first of the Epic Journey series to you all. This is a massive combination of 3 books, with 90 endings over 400+ pages - enough to kids the kids busy adventuring for a while. I wrote and illustrated this book (so forgive the pencil-sketched doodles) and was fortunate enough to have the professional help of artist Angie Jimenez for the cover design and artwork.
And hopefully, each journey you take through the book will have you craving for more adventure.
