Publisher's Synopsis
As there is One Spirit that speaks to us, there is only One Speaking, One Oracle. The root meaning of the word oracle is, after all, simply the Latin orare, meaning to speak. The Oracle, then, is the Speaking of the One Spirit, regardless of the specific divinatory method through which it speaks. In that vein, this book is intended as a companion for diviners in their relationship with the Oracle, whether the method they are using to communicate with the Oracle is the I Ching, Tonalpohuolli, Astrology, Tarot, Cabala, Numerology, Geomancy, Feng Shui, Runes, Crystal Gazing, or any of the other time-tested methods of divination. To be a diviner means penetrating the veil of the five senses and perceiving the eternal at work in the temporal. By way of an analogy: a water dowser, also called a water diviner, does not look for future water-on the contrary, the dowser is looking for present water that is hidden beneath the surface. So it is with the act of divination: we are not trying to tell the future; we are, on the contrary, attempting to know what is present beneath the surface of the five senses. The art of divination is to step outside the flow of time in order to clearly perceive and accurately interpret the symbols of the eternal ideas. This act of perceiving the unfolding of present circumstances is an integral aspect of adapting to and guiding the ongoing manifestation of spirit.Divinations used to be cast for the emperor to decide, for example, if the capital city ought to be moved or if the nation ought to go to war. Every divination ought to be undertaken with a similar sense of gravitas.
