This is a Holocaust story as told by Dr. Maria Dworzecka to Dr.. Harold A. Geller It recounts thee story of a little girl separated from her parents by the Nazis. Alone on the curb of a square in Poland, Maria is taken in by a woman who witnessed the Nazis take away the Jews in the square. From this incident we learn about Maria's experience during the war as a Jewish child in hiding, adopted by a Christian family and raised as their own during the Nazi occupation. The war ends and the Russians push out the Nazis from the Polish town. Eventually, Maria ends up in the United States after having completed her doctoral studies in Physics.
