Kuwagata Keisai and Kitao Masayoshi was artist names of the Japanese artist Akabane Sanjirô 1764-1824.

He produced many instructional manuals on how to paint in 'abbreviated style' (ryakuga-shiki) and Methods of Cursive Drawing of Landscapes produced in 1800 is said to have influenced the great master Hokusai.


As Ukiyo-e artist, one of his he specialties was landscape depictions in so-called Uki-e style using Western perspective.

This volume is intended for students who want to copy his designs and color them for their own enjoyment and development.

Kuwagata Keisai and Kitao Masayoshi were artist names of the Japanese artist, print artist and painter Akabane Sanjirô born in Edo in 1764 and died 1824.
