Publisher's Synopsis
After Kate Burns' high school graduation, she watches her friends drift off one by one following their dreams. Her dreams of attending culinary school and becoming a chef in a fine restaurant slip further and further away with each passing year, as she remains behind in Talladega under the iron grip of her parents. Five frustrating years later, an unfortunate event causes Kate to realize the time has come to break free. She carefully plans her escape and heads for Maine to her friend Molly's house and the beginning of her culinary career.
Just as she nears her destination, she receives devastating news and her journey suddenly takes a different path than she planned. Stranded and alone in New Hampshire she finds new friends and the possibility of a life she hadn't expected. Kate soon learns that her new home is haunted, and not only does the house hold its own secrets, but Kate soon learns that her past has its own secrets, which may threaten to pull her back to her old life and the iron will of her parents.
