As a young airman in the US Navy, I volunteered for an expedition to Antarctica on an icebreaker in the late 1950's.
My tour of duty took me across the South Pacific, New Zealand and to Antarctica, the least visited continent for one of the largest scientific studies ever undertaken. There I experienced adventure and the unspoiled grandeur of nature, as well as crushing tragedy.

Anthony F. Fiorentino has lived in Los Gatos, California for the past 45 years. He was drafted by the AFL to play football with the Oakland Raiders. While teaching Biology and Science at Los Gatos High School for 35 years, he co-authored a science curriculum book called "Introduction to Laboratory Science" known as "Earth Space Science" still in use today. He Authored "Loving Nature and Quintin the Quail." His son Steven is a successful commercial realtor.
