In her dying breath, Lancelot's mother tells him he must embrace his fate so that one day he will be great. All Lancelot wants to do is die, but he allows the magician Merlin to take him away because he can't endure the thought of disappointing his mother. He serves the Lady of the Lake faithfully as a bodyguard to her bratty son, but is banished when the Lady's sworn enemy murders his first true love. Merlin, who has his own plans for Lancelot, uses a spell to send Lancelot hundreds of years into the future. In this future he must conquer the mysterious Rittlock, an evil king.
